Bunya Pine

Bunya Pine is a towering evergreen tree native to Queensland, Australia, standing tall with a straight trunk that can reach up to 45 meters. Known for its massive, cone-shaped fruits, the Bunya Pine produces edible seeds that hold great significance to the Kabi Kabi people and other Indigenous communities. In Djaa, the Bunya fruit is not only a valuable source of sustenance but also serves as a tradable item and currency, adding depth to your journey and interactions within the game.

 

  • Bunya Nuts are used for Trade as a currency 
  • Edible Fruit called Bunya. can be eaten raw, roasted or boiled. 

  • The Kabi Kabi people valued the seeds for their nutritional content, and the trees themselves were considered sacred.

Paper Bark

Broad-leaved Paperbark is a medium to tall tree known for its distinctive whitish, papery bark that resembles layers of fine tissue paper stacked together. This tree is not only beautiful but also practical—its bark, sticks, leaves, and sap can be collected and used throughout your journey. In Djaa, these resources play an important role, offering you materials to craft and trade as you explore.

  • Paperbark bark, adds a delightful smoky flavor to fish, chicken and vegetables when wrapped and cooked on the coals.

     

  • Wash and soak in water before wrapping your ingredients and tie with String. Cook on coals, BBQ or in the oven.

Red Gum

Here’s a description for the Red Gum:

Red Gum is a robust tree native to Australia, easily recognizable by its striking reddish-brown bark and strong, durable timber. Part of the Eucalyptus genus, it thrives in forests and along riverbanks. The tree produces large, aromatic leaves and small, cream-colored flowers. In Djaa, you can gather Red Gum wood to craft essential tools, making it a valuable resource for your journey.
